Joseph
Patrick Walsh was born and raised in Philadelphia. Joe graduated
from Saint Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
English in 1988. In 1991, he received a Juris Doctorate cum laude
from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington Delaware. At
graduation, Joe was awarded the recognition of Order of the
Barristers. While in law school, he served as a Research Editor on
the Law Review, sat on the Executive Board of the Moot Court Honor
Society, and received several American Jurisprudence Awards.
Upon graduation, Joe became a judicial law clerk for the Honorable
Herbert J. Hutton in the United States District Court for the
Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is currently admitted to
practice law by the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Middle and
Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania. Joe is an active member of the
Montgomery Bar Association where he currently serves on its Board of
Directors and is President of the Trial Lawyers Section. He is also
an active member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, the
Pennsylvania Bar Association, Montgomery County Child Advocacy
Program, and the Catholic Social Services Pro Bono Program.
In 2005, Joe was designated by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as a
Rising Star (Philadelphia Magazine, December 2005 edition). The
majority of Joe’s legal career has been concentrated in the area of
civil litigation and trial work. He has successfully litigated and
tried countless jury and non-jury trials, arbitration hearings, and
small claims matters. He has also successfully briefed and argued
appellate matters before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of
Appeals. Throughout his legal career, Joe has had the privilege of
representing the nation and the Commonwealth’s largest insurers and
self-insured entities.
Joe lives in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania with his wife and three
daughters. He is active in local politics and community affairs. In
2005, he was elected to the Board of Directors for the North Penn
School District. In 2009, Joe was elected to the Board of
Supervisors for Montgomery Township, Montgomery County. He is
currently serving as the Chairman of the Board. He also served on
the Board of Directors for the North Montgomery County Technical
Career Center and the Montgomery Township Zoning Hearing Board.
