Joseph Patrick Walsh was born and
raised in Philadelphia. Joe graduated from Saint Joseph’s
University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1988. In
1991, he received a juris doctorate cum laude from Widener
University School of Law in Wilmington Delaware. At graduation, Joe
was awarded the recognition of Order of the Barristers. While in
law school, he served as a Research Editor on the Law Review, sat on
the Executive Board of the Moot Court Honor Society, and received
several American Jurisprudence Awards.
Upon graduation, Joe became a judicial
law clerk for the Honorable Herbert J. Hutton in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is
currently admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals,
and the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania. Joe is an active member
of the Montgomery County Bar Association where he sits on the Board
of Trial Lawyers currently serving as its Secretary. He is also an
active member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, the
Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Catholic Social Services Pro
Bono Program.
In 2005, Joe was designated by
Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as a Rising Star (Philadelphia
Magazine, December 2005 edition). The majority of Joe’s legal
career has been concentrated in the area of civil litigation and
trial work. He has successfully litigated and tried countless jury
and non-jury trials, arbitration hearings, and small claims
matters. He has also successfully briefed and argued appellate
matters before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court
of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Throughout
his legal career, Joe has had the privilege of representing the
nation and the Commonwealth’s largest insurers and self-insured
entities.
Joe lives in
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania with his wife and three daughters. He is active in local politics and community affairs. In 2005, he
was elected to the Board of Directors for the North Penn School
District. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the North
Montgomery County Technical Career Center and the Montgomery
Township Zoning Hearing Board.
